Lambeth LBC chief executive Heather Rabbatts is profiled as a possible contender as Labour candidate for the mayor of London, by the Daily Telegraph (p32).

The paper reports that as a civil servant, Mr Rabbatts is not allowed to say whether she supports Labour but she says: 'There's no ideological givens about anything. I have my own leadership style. I've got values - everyone's born equal and should have the best possible opportunity to achieve their potential.'

She says: 'I try to create those synergies which make a difference to people's lives. That's what drives me and that's what I'm passionate about.'

Of the possible mayoral position, she says: 'This is a really exciting and interesting job. There are an increasing number of people who are keen for me to do it.'
