The government has announced budget allocations for the regional development agencies totalling more than£772 million.

Allocations for 1999-2000 are:

Yorkshire and Humber136 6

West Midlands114.1

East Midlands59.2

East of England31.4

Total772.2

Minister for the regions Richard Caborn said: 'These are substantial allocations and reflect the fact that RDAs will play a major part in implementing the strategies they will develop for their regions. Variations reflect different needs.'

In addition, RDAs will receive£50m from English Partnerships to carry out the Coalfields Programme.
