The eight English regional development agencies have repeated their calls for more money in an attempt to get their views heard before this months's comprehensive spending review.

The Financial Times (p4) reports that their demands have come in response to a government consultation on their future responsibilities, announced on 23 June by environment secretary John Prescott.

The RDAs want simplified funding arrangements with greater flexibility over money received from Whitehall. They also want additional funding to speed up the promotion of technology transfer from universities, small business development and support for deprived communities.
