Welsh Secretary John Redwood has warned head teachers who fail to come up to standard that they will be sacked, reports the Western Mail on its front-page.

Mr Redwood is also threatening to dismiss governors whose schools do not match government guidelines, says the paper.

Speaking at the Welsh Tory Party Euro-rally in Cardiff, Mr Redwood criticised weak leadership and low standards in schools. He said he now had new powers and planned to 'move in' and maybe demand changes at the top.
