The government is establishing regional development agencies, through which local government and the private sector will work together to promote investment, regeneration and employment opportunities.

The London RDA will be established by the new Greater London Authority. In the meantime a shadow agency - the London Development Partnership, chaired by Colin Marshall - has been set up by boroughs and business in the capital.

An Association of London Government fringe meeting at the Local Government Association conference tomorrow will examine the structure and makeup of RDAs, and in particular the London Development Partnership, and consider the question - will RDAs be successful partnerships, or will business interests dominate?

SPEAKERS:

Colin Marshall

Chairman of British Airways and the London Development Partnership

Toby Harris

Association of London Government

Valerie Shawcross

Croydon LBC
