Housing minister Hilary Armstrong wants to add to the expertise ...
Housing minister Hilary Armstrong wants to add to the expertise

of the housing corporation by recruiting a new member to bring

further knowledge and experience of the assessment and regulation of

financial risk to the board.

In order to widen the public appointment process the post was to

be advertised in the Financial Times yesterday.

Ms Armstrong said:

'This is a challenge for someone with an interest in helping to

provide decent homes for those in need. The housing corporation has

responsibility for regulating registered social landlords and for

protecting the substantial sums it invests in social housing each

year. I am looking for a board member who can help the corporation

achieve those key objectives.

'I am planning to look for one further member this year who can

reflect tenant interests on the board. I expect to start that

process in the spring.

'I recently reappointed George Cracknell to the board and I will

reappoint Julia Unwin when her current term expires in February.

Following several recent changes on the board, this will ensure a

blend of experience and new ideas.'
