Anite has been awarded an £800,000 contract by Renfrewshire Council to implement an IT solution to manage more than 20,000 properties.

Iain McMillan, convener of Renfrewshire Council's housing, environment and community safety policy board said: 'Anite's solution will be a major part of the housing and property services taking forward the council's 'Reaching Renfrewshire strategy', our vision for modern services in Renfrewshire.

'The emphasis is on improving speed and convenience of access to all our services. We aim to 'enable all citizens', businesses and organisation to reach information and services quicker and more easily, where and when they want and by whatever means they prefer to empower their involvement in the local economy and to improve their quality of life.'

The Anite solution will assist the council in delivering an improved housing service at a lower cost. The solution, which contains a range of modules including allocations, rent and arrears, repairs, process management and reports and enquiries, will provide fast and secure access to housing information, improving productivity and service delivery. It will also open up a range of new communication channels to the public, including the internet and digital TV.

The council is also to implement Anite's mobile housing solution, which will allow employees to work in the field - delivering further benefits to both the council and the public. By taking advantage of mobile technology, repairs can be ordered and processed more efficiently by arming workers with all the information they need without returning to the office.

In addition, the Council is also looking to develop a common housing register, which will highlight all available properties in the area on a single list, regardless of whether they are owned by the council or a housing association. The Anite solution will manage the common register, which includes properties from the council and five housing associations, and will allow members of the public to access the list on-line, to view available homes and to apply for accommodation.
