Renfrewshire council has been told that it acted illegally in increasing the charge for an orange disability car badge from£2 to£10, reports the Glasgow Herald (p4).

The Scottish Office made the ruling after a complaint from a badge holder about the increase. The council told the paper that although it had come close to bringing the increase into place it had not been done 'for legal reasons.'
