The Resettlement Agency's Annual Report which is published today.

Until this year the emphasis had been to develop new hostels by malting grants to voluntary organisations or local authorities. A new approach was tested in 1992/93.

Two units, Camden and Newbury, have been sold under long term lease to voluntary organisations.

Tony Ward, the Agency's Chief Executive, said: 'The new approach has proved successful. We generated considerable interest from a wide range of voluntary organisations and local authorities.

'Arlington Housing Association are now the new owners of the unit at Camden, and St Petroc's (Wessex) Housing Association the new owners of Newbury. We shall be disposing of a further five units in this way by 31 March 1994.

Most of the remaining units will now be sold under long-term lease to voluntary organisations or local authorities. Grant aid will be available to the organisations concerned.
