Magistrates have ruled in favour of a group of householders who want the right to call their road the name they want.

The Western Mail (p7) reports that the court ruled in favour of residents of what will now be known as Heol Brynarian.

Toni Sarracini, one of the householders who presented their case in court yesterday, said: 'This matter has gone on for two years and at last it has been settled. Brynarian is the right name for the road because that's what people call the area. We thought it was apt for the houses.'

Alan Jones, a Carmarthen CC member who wanted the road to be named Maes Arian, said: 'The town council has already agreed it will put up the sign and that's the end of it, thank goodness.'

Marlene Miles Richards, representing the county council, said the authority had rejected the name Heol Brynarian on the advice of Mr Jones as the local councillor.
