Restormel DC will prosecute if there is found to be fraud in the way a contentious planning application was handled, BBC Radio Four's Today programme reported this morning.

An inquiry is being held into the planning application for factory outlet centre. If planning permission is overturned, the land owner could sue the council for up to£30 million, Today said. It reported that the fraud squad is investigating whether a planning officer altered the application.

Restormel leader John Weller told the programme: 'this is such a serious thing that I want to see, if there is true proven wrong doing, that we get prosecutions out of this'.
