Tower Hamlets LBC's seven neighbourhoods need to collaborate more closely on the delivery of social services, an independent review said last week.

It found there were extreme differences in the adequacy of budgets, with Stepney neighbourhood seeing its allocation as sufficient while Poplar was found to be seriously overspent and considering closing facilities.

The council asked Department of Health adviser Adrianne Jones to carry out the review to ensure its neighbourhoods were delivering social services effectively.
