Scottish education minister Raymond Robertson has rounded on councils and parents' leaders over their opposition to nursery vouchers, reports The Scotsman (p6).
Mr Robertson claimed that eight of the 32 unitary authorities had expressed an interest in taking part in the pilot. He hoped these council would follow up their initial contact.
'Those councils which have rejected out proposals, without even testing them, are helping no one, least of all those children and parents in their areas who may not be currently getting the provision they need,' he said.
'That sort of negative judgement is unhelpful to everyone and I am sure that parents in those areas will judge such actions accordingly.'
