The Plaid Cymru opposition on Rhondda Cynon Taff council has called for an investigation after the son of the authority's leader was successful in a job application.

Wales on Sunday reported (p6) that Barrie Murphy got the caretaker post over a woman who had been doing the job for a year. Her union is looking at bring a possible sex discrimination case against the council.

Council leader Bill Murphy told the paper: 'You can't disqualify someone from applying for a job because they happen to be the child of a member. There are several members with children who work for the authority.'
