The former assistant director of development and technical services sacked by Darlington BC, Maurice Denham, has lost an appeal against his dismissal.

The Northern Echo (12 Dec, p3) reported that Mr Denham was sacked on 6 November for reasons that have not been revealed.

A council spokesman confirmed that the appeal, heard at the town hall, had been unsuccessful but said he could not comment further because Mr Denham still had further right of appeal.

Mr Denham did not wish to comment but revealed that he was considering taking the case to an industrial tribunal.
