The sacked finance chief of the Welsh Development Agency is claiming wrongful dismissal by the quango and is set to sue for defamation, the Western Mail reports (p1).

Mike Henry's actions will refuel the controversy surrounding the £160 million agency, which has seen a series of demotions, a sacking and the forthcoming resignation of chief executive Philip Head.

The Western Mail says Mr Henry, whose dismissal followed a private inquiry into the running of the agency, believes he was made a scapegoat for others who have held senior positions.

His case for wrongful dismissal is being backed by Unison, which is providing legal assistance.
