Employees of Torfaen CBC are to take part in a screening and testing programme which focuses on hearing and vibration white finger as part of European Health and Safety Week. The employees have been selected as part of a wide ranging-programme which is being run over a six month period.

Corporate services committee chair Gwilym Evans said:

'We take the health and safety of our employees very seriously indeed and are happy to be taking part in European Health and Safety Week. The pilot scheme will be looked at very carefully with a view to developing our programme in the future.'

Key companies have been invited to provide displays in the reception areas at the civic centre in Pontypool and county hall in Cwmbran. These will be aimed at raising staff awareness about hearing and damage from vibration within the workplace.
