The Health and Safety Executive is to prosecute Camden LBC for failing to comply with gas safety regulations introduced in 1994. These require councils and other landlords to carry out regular checks on gas appliances.

Camden, which had been working with the HSE to overcome a backlog of work, said it had hit problems because of the acute shortage of qualified contractors.
