Teachers in Sandwell MBC could find themselves in dispute with governing bodies over plans to make the borough's schools 'no smoking zones', the Birmingham Post reports (p5).

The paper says that education chiefs want all primary and secondary schools to ban smoking. At present teachers can use specially designated rooms for smoking during break times.

The Birmingham Post says that union leaders yesterday said they hoped officials would reconsider their plans to prevent a dispute 'which could be counter productive to good relations' in schools.
