New scaled-down plans for the Millennium Exhibition at Greenwich have been put forward to the Millennium Commission today, reports the Evening Standard (p2).

A£700m budget for the exhibition was rejected just before Christmas, and organisers have now tabled a budget for£580m, with a number of previously planned buildings and features scrapped.

A major attraction now dropped includes the Millennium Visitors Experience, a sight and sound presentation.
