A Lincolnshire CC school at the centre of a meningitis outbreak was closed yesterday after a third pupil fell ill, reports the Daily Express (p28), and all the nationals.
Two teenagers at Lincolnshire City Comprehensive have already died. Health officials decided to close the school after doctors were brought in to test staff and 320 pupils from the same year as the victims.
The council has brought in special counsellors for pupils and parents.
The three all caught the meningococcal speticaemie strain of the bug. Dr Michael Le Geyt, Lincolnshire Health Authority's consultant in communicable diseases said they may be dealing with a very aggressive form of meningitis.
