The Glasgow Herald (p1) reports that Lanarkshire's shortlisting for a new investment worth up to 3,000 jobs has underlined fears that Scotland's cities are being sacrificed in favour of the hinterlands for economic development.

Glasgow city council Labour group secretary Des McNulty accused central government and Scottish Enterprise of 'systematic neglect' of the city.

'Instead of swanning around the United States, it would be nice if they could reach some decisions on security jobs and developing the economy in Glasgow,' he told the paper.
