Ettick and Lauderdale DC is going to court to challenge Scottish Office accusations that it acted uncompetitively over the award of a contract, the Glasgow Herald reports (p5).

The contract, for grounds maintenance of parks and playing fields, was awarded to one of the council's own direct service organisations in December 1991. The only other organisation who had tendered for the contract complained to the Scottish Office, which caused Scottish secretary, Ian Lang, to order the council to retender. ENDs
