Traders in the seaside town of Portobello are considering suing Edinburgh DC after pollution warning notices were placed along the beach causing business to fall off, the Herald reports (p7).

The small firms intend to carry out their own research into sewage levels around the Portobello area and claim levels of pollution are no worse than any other beach nearby.

The traders believe the council has exaggerated the problem and unnecessarily affected their livelihood, the paper reports.
