North Yorkshire CC's budget for school buses is expected to be at least £380,000 in the red by next spring, mainly due to tighter regulations on seat belts, reports the Yorkshire Post (p8)

Director of education Cynthia Welbourn said: 'Contract prices are continuing to rise, probably as a consequence of all operators having to reconsider their fleet requirements in view of the forthcoming legislation on seat belts.'
