A series of seminars investigating the use of 'brown land' - vacant or underused urban land - kicks off tomorrow in Cardiff Bay, the Western Mail reports (Business, p18).

The seminars, which will also take place in Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and London, will review brown land policies, their contribution to economic development, future legislation and financing issues.

According to one of the organisers, 'Cardiff Bay is a microcosm of the brown land issue, with large areas of previously derelict and contaminated land now being regenerated for productive use'.
