The principal housing officer at Salisbury DC has resigned
his job before he appeared in court on drink driving charges, reports
the Salisbury Journal (p7).
Blandford magistrates court heard that Geoff Walker, 44, was more than
twice the drink drive limit when he crashed on June 15.
Walker, who is going through a divorce, told police he had drunk a
bottle of wine before driving. Magistrates banned him from driving for
16 months, fined him£350 and ordered him to pay£55 costs.
No senior officer at the council would comment about his resignation,
reported the newspaper.
