LGcomms academy to focus on leadership

It is the third annual joint academy run by LGcommunications, which works to raise the standard of communications in public services.

The event, held in conjunction with the Government Communications Service, is taking place on 1-2 November at St George’s Hall in Liverpool.

The academy, aimed at communicators across local and central government, will also look at collaboration and engagement, and communicating devolution and public service reform.

LGcommunications chair Simon Jones (pictured), Haringey LBC’s assistant director of communications, said: “Today’s public service communicator has to work within a constantly changing environment; we’re facing new technology, new audiences and continued austerity.

“Our job has changed and the key question for us now is, how do we adapt and what is the most effective way to collaborate? Our event will help ensure that public sector communications is well placed to lead the country into the future.”
