The task of looking after the crumbling cliffs at Dunwich in Suffolk is shared between the local authority and the National Rivers Authority (NRA), overseen by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF), reported The Daily Telegraph (26 August, pp14 & 15, Weekend).

Roy Stoddard, senior engineer (coast protection) with the Suffolk Coastal DC, says the approach to coastal protection has shifted in the last 20 years from fighting the sea to working with it, harnessing its ways to destroy its own energy, the Daily Telegraph reported.
