The LGA has announced the shortlisted entries for the 'Download' Local Government Web Site Awards Competition 1998.

The awards are designed to highlight local government activity on the world-wide web in five service-related categories and to recognise excellence and achievement.

The awards themselves are unique in their specific local government focus and are open to all member authorities of the LGA to enter each year.

Peter Blair, who is co-ordinating the administration of the awards for the LGA, praised the general high standard of entries and said that: 'LGA member authorities are performing most creditably in this new and dynamic communications medium and have every reason to be proud of their efforts'.

All entries, including those shortlisted, can be inspected on the LGA Web site at A panel of expert judges will now choose winning entries from those shortlisted.
