The Civil Engineering Contractors Association and County Surveyors Society want to develop a cheaper and simpler way to carry out smaller projects under the private finance initiative, reported Contract Journal (23 April, p3).

The CSS suggests that the government should make earlier revenue payments once an independent cost assessment of a project had been made.
