Highways crews are operating a work-to-rule with no overtime or weekends as they are in dispute with North Yorkshire CC over the introduction of national single status. The agreement puts manual workers on the same 37-hour week as other council staff.

Roads were left ungritted yesterday and the problem was expected to continue.

Unison has warned old people's homes, children's homes and schools could be affected if North Yorkshire CC continues with its job evaulation process as part of single status.
