The Deputy Chairman of the Housing Corporation, Sir Norman Wakefield, is to step down from the post when his term of appointment comes to an end later this month.

Sir George Young, Minister for Housing, Inner Cities and Construction praised the work which Sir Norman has done over the last three years. 'Sir Norman Wakefield has made a significant personal contribution to the work of the Housing Corporation. This period has been one of quite radical redirection both for the way that associations have been encouraged by the Corporation to develop and for the way that the Corporation had to regulate associations to minimise financial risk.'
