There are concerns that surprise new plans for the funding of social housing may put at risk support measures for elderly people, according to The Guardian (Society, p17).

The sweeping government plans, published last week, foreshadow a revolution in housing support services as radical as that triggered in case services by the 1993 community care reforms, according to the paper.

But the fear is that the revolution will bring casualties. The main concern is that the government aim to stop housing benefit being used to pay for support services, will cause more problems than it solves.
