Lincolnshire CC social services is boosting the number of qualified social workers it has through a scheme with Nottingham Trent University.
Nine trainees, recruited last autumn, will become fully-fledged social workers in children and family services within two years.
The trainees, with little social work experience, will complete a year's work in placement before starting university studies. Those with more experience have already started the course.
Director of social services Matt Bukowski said: 'This scheme is an attempt to support a small number of staff and ensure this important area is properly staffed.'
