Commenting on the report of the Commission on Local Government Electoral

Arrangements in Wales (The Sunderland Commission - see below) which has recommended a

change to the Single Transferable Vote (STV) for local authority elections

in Wales, Ken Ritchie, chief executive of the Electoral Reform Society,

said:

'We warmly welcome the decision to recommend STV. We believe that

this is the best system and one which will strengthen the link between voter

and councillor. We look forward to campaigning with others from across the

political spectrum and outside to see this implemented.'
