As a further step in the working relationship between private and public sectors, Zurich Municipal and the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives and Senior Managers have formed a new 'gold partnership'.

The announcement heralds a new era in the sharing of best practice across sectors.

Zurich managing director Guy Munnoch said:

'At a time of continual change, managing risk is an issue for any organisation, not least for local authorities. We are particularly delighted at this opportunity to work with Solace members to share our knowledge and expertise of managing risk and to play a role in helping senior managers to identify risks and overcome the barriers to the achievement of their objectives.'

Solace director general David Clark said:

'Today's announcement strongly reinforces the benefits of sharing knowledge and working to develop best practice in both private and public sectors. It also further cements the relationship we have had with Zurich Municipal for many years. I look forward to offering Solace members the opportunity to learn from another sector, and to share their local government expertise, professionalism and experience to continue to improve the delivery of high quality services to local people.'
