Somerset CC, who tried to impose a hunting ban that was successfully challenged through the courts, has been sent a bill by hunt members for stress counselling, reports The Daily Telegraph (p2).

The £4,000 bill for four visits to a psychologist by hunt members was claimed as part of the £244,000 court costs.

Council leader Chris Clarke said there was no way it was prepared to pay the 'quite outrageous bill' from Quantock Staghounds.

A decision on whether the case should be continued in the House of Lords was postponed yesterday until the next full council meeting.
