South Cambridgeshire DC has turned down a planning application from Generics Group, a technology-based business, to double the size of its headquarters, reports the Financial Times (p10).

The dispute, which will be decided by environment secretary John Prescott, highlights the problem facing growing UK regions of accommodating for the rapid growth of technology-based businesses.

The council refused to approve the plan because it was concerned about the long-term effect on local infrastructure.
