Ian Lang, president of the board of trade, has called on Tony Blair to disown Jeremy Fraser, the leader of Southwark LBC, the Sunday Express claimed (p9).

Mr Fraser has been accused by his Conservative opponents of bully boy tactics after allegedly warning the black newspaper, the Voice, that town halls would withdraw advertising if it failed to recognise the National Union of Journalists.

Mr Fraser denies that he made a threat.
