Figures that show that many parents of pupils with special education needs are unhappy with resources allocated by local education authorities are 'disastrous', according to a feature in The Independent (section two, p14).

The Independent Panel for Special Education Advice is even more concerned that a third of respondents to a National Association of Head Teachers survey, published in May, reveals that a third of respondents said they could not meet the needs of pupils with statements of special needs.

IPSEA assists 1,000 families each year in disputes with local authorities.
