The western Scottish town of Dunoon risks losing £300,000 in aid from the European Union because of a row over the price of a small piece of land needed for a town development scheme.

Argyll and Bute DC need the land in the middle of the town to carry out a £900,000 town centre improvement scheme.

The land's owners are holding out for more money.

The council said if a deal was not struck soon, it could miss the deadline for qualifying for the European aid grant.
