Social services staff at Leeds City Council walked out yesterday over working conditions, reports the Yorkshire Post (p9).

More than 80 employees left 'dilapidated' Buckingham House in Headingley and marched to the town hall to demand a refurbishment.

A social services spokeswoman said: 'A meeting was held with the trade unions and staff representatives to discuss various solutions which are being considered and to try and find a way forward as quickly as possible.'
