Two social services managers at Cambridgeshire CC have been suspended as a result of the Bridge report on the Rikki Neave case, Radio Four's Today programme was told this morning.

Ted Unsworth, Cambridgeshire's social services director, said: 'What the report makes clear is where the deficiencies occurred in practice and case management, and we will be discussing that later today when we publish the report'.

The chief inspector of social services, Sir Herbert Laming, told Today that legislation and good practice guidelines to protect children were in place but 'in this particular case that guidance was not followed'.
