A convicted paedophile in the care of Stirling Council has been re-arrested after a protest about his presence in the area, reports The Scotsman (p1).

The unnamed 50-year-old's details were circulated to 12 local primary schools and sparked a protest by parents at the hostel he was staying in.

The man was arrested this Monday after last week's protest, for allegedly being responsible for a breach of the peace involving a 17-year-old girl.

The charges were dropped by a court this Tuesday, but after the Crown Office intervened he was re-arrested on the same charge last night, while he was with a Stirling Council social worker, reports The Scotsman.
