Point-scoring and the public criticism of officers for party political purposes is set to be banned by Stratford Upon Avon DC, reports The Birmingham Post (p4).

Members of the council should also avoid entering into vindictive personal slanging matches with political opponents, according to guidelines drawn up for a new code of conduct set to be discussed at a meeting today.

The council's standards and appeals committee will consider the introduction of a new set of rules governing when it is acceptable for councillor to bring party politics into the decision making process.
