The Scottish Trade Union Congress in Glasgow this week has backed full employment and a timetable to renationalise rail among other resolutions, reports The Guardian (p14).

The STUC also backed a legal right to 'solidarity' industrial action, condemned privatisation and private finance initiative schemes, and endorsed a minimum wage of half male median earnings, around£4.42.

Speaking at the last day of the congress yesterday, shadow Scottish secretary George Robertson warned unions against inflated expectations of an incoming Labour government and said there should be 'self discipline and control' from trade unions.
