Mr More, who succeeds Lin Homer in the role, is the county council's director of resource management and has been with the county council for three years.
Jane Hore, leader of Suffolk CC, said: 'I'm delighted that council has approved Mike's appointment. Having worked with him I have every confidence in his ability and determination to make Suffolk an even better place to live and work. I'm also certain his appointment will be an extremely popular one among our staff.'
Mr More said: 'I'm thrilled to be taking on the challenge of improving the quality of life for people living in Suffolk. It is already a great place to live, and it's exciting to think I will be leading a team committed to making it even better, building on the successes and achievement we have enjoyed in the past five years. The council is ambitious for further improvement and that is what makes it such an exciting challenge.'
