The Times (June 24, p20) reported that archaeologists have unearthed an early Anglo-Saxon cemetary at one of Britain's major historical sites. The graves of four men and a woman and the cremated remains of 18 people in urns were found near the Sutton Hoo burial ship in Woodbridge in Suffolk.

John Newman, field oficer with Suffolk CC archaeological service, said: 'These were possibly the precursors to the kings of East Anglia. The spears and shields in the other graves also suggest status.'
