A pay dispute at Swale BC has been resolved after 'informal' contact with the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service.

PE Imbucon consultants, which the council has worked with since it opted out of the National Joint Council, recommended a tiered system of pay increases after comparing the council with the wider market.

This was rejected by the council and Unison. Chief executive Chris Edwards said: 'ACAS was involved at an informal level to discuss where we were heading. At that stage there was agreement.'

All staff will receive two six-monthly staged increases of 2.5% and 3.5%.
